AUDITOR’S OFFICE CLOSED the afternoon of  October 19th and all day on the 20th & 21st to attend election training in Pierre.


Day County is accepting applications for a full-time Deputy Auditor position. Qualifications: This person should have one year of accounting related experience. The ideal candidate will need excellent attention to detail, computer experience, organization skills, work on multiple projects and meet deadlines, the ability to perform a wide variety of tasks, clerical/secretarial support, and communication abilities are essential to this position.

Position is open until filled. Benefits include health insurance, life insurance, retirement plan, accrued sick and vacation leave, & paid holidays. The Auditor is the county business manager.  The Auditor is responsible for commissioners proceedings, agendas and records, accounting records, revenue and expense reports, voter registration and elections.  Businesses located outside of city limits apply for beer and liquor licenses with the Auditor.  The Auditor also figures real estate and mobile home taxes and handles county bid lettings.  In many cases, the Auditor also manages medical indigent claims.
