The Day County Highway Department is in charge of maintaining one hundred seventy (170) miles of paved highway, three hundred sixty four (364) miles of gravel and thirty (30) bridges within the county limits. This department also maintains the culverts, road signs, and the ditches along the highway. During winter months the department stays busy with snow removal off five hundred thirty four (534) miles of county roads.
